Sr. Process Safety Engineer/Facilitator

The Process Safety Engineer is trained and experienced in facilitating and leading Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies, including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and What-If techniques. Process Safety services are provided to our clients in the oil, gas, chemical, pulp and paper industries for capital projects, facility operations, and Management of Change work.

Essential Duties

  • Provide process safety and risk management consulting services in management system development and implementation.
  • Participate in safety workshops (i.e. PHA, HAZOP, What-If Analysis, HAZID, JSA, QRA, and FMEA) including workshop preparation, faciltation, scribe and client reporting.
  • Support projects in specialized areas of PSM including procedure development, training course development, support of management of change implementation and compliance audits.
  • Assist Safety Systems Team in development of safety instrument systems front end loading related deliverables.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field of study with appropriate experience.
  • Certifications: PE, CSP, or CFSE preferred.
  • Formal PHA / LOPA / QRA training or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years minimum experience in process safety engineering.
  • Experience performing PHA and risk assessment studies, including HAZOP, What-if, and HAZID.
  • Knowledge of SIL identification and LOPA preferred.
  • Experience in quantitative risk assessment and facility siting analysis valued.
  • Experience developing, implementing or managing process safety / risk management programs (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP) needed.
  • Team management, consulting, project management and client development strongly desired.
  • Experience in industry serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
  • The willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time needed.
  • Valid driver's license required.
